The emulator that I've been using is called BGB, and is what i've heard to be the best when trying to link up. It can be found here.
Jon came across this one for GBA games. I haven't tried it myself, but I'm sure it works.
As for roms, I easily found blue and red version both on torrent sites. If you're having trouble, hit me up and I'll help you out.
