SiloFest, Actually Getting it!

Zapht

ok so ive recently done some forum clean up. this is where we will talk about anyway possible to make that silo ours!

there is another thread keeping track of donations. plz use that one to post your donation amount (add it to the previous sum) so we can see how much we really have going towards this place.

i think most of us know that we aren't going to raise $10,000 off of pure donations so we will need other ways is raising money.

some previous ideas that would help were:
-Sponsers
-Hold your own fundraising venues
-Garage Sales
-Sell Adspace
-and of course: Gain the full support of UG!

our plans aren't final! as always we are open to suggestions. plz if you have any other ideas of how to aquire funds for this venue let us know and we can add it to the list!

if you have any donations plz use the other thread already made for that!

thank you anyone who helped edit my horrible grammer. i have sent the letter with all corrections made. now we play the waiting game...

It depends on who the sponsor is and who contacts them. I am a high schooler. I contact gibson, they will be like NO, we have someone about 30 do it and sounds as profesional as myself (haha who am I kidding, alot more profesional) and we have half a chance. spelling *makeing=making

What about rich people? This would be a pretty good investment if we give them a cut.

I'm going to repost it here with corrections, there's way more than 3. Also this looks a bit too cordial, so I'm going to change it a bit if you accept that. Hello, I am Zapht, and I am representing the user group "UG's Missile Silo". In case you haven't read our description, our goal is to buy the Titan Missile Base off the border of Washington to be used as a venue called SiloFest. In just seven months, we have found more than 1,000 members who support this cause.

The group was originally called UG's Missile Silo because it was going to be associated with this site. Due to copyright issues and since we do not own the site, we cannot link SiloFest to UG. However, you do own UG and we are asking for your support in this so that we may link the two.

We do not expect UG to buy the silo; if you do link SiloFest to UG, our plan would be to try to get sponsors from companies like Gibson and Dean and allow them to set up stores on the Silofest Site. Our goal is to exceed other venues such as Ozzfest. We have also discussed whether sponsors will be able to hold power over the venue but we will only be offering adspace and space from areas we choose from to set up a store. The sponsors will not own any of the actual venue.

You might not want to set up the venue on a missile silo for liability reasons but the base is completely shut down, which is why it is up for sale.

Having heard our case, I ask for you to wait before making an immediate decision. None of our plans are carved in stone; if you want to support this cause but change some of our plans we are open to changes. So all we are asking for right now is support from the UG website, and maybe a sub-forum to get more support.

------------------

Lots of contractions and way too personal; it's more professional without them. Also I changed some words and omitted a few unnecessary things. Try this if you feel it's good enough.

This is an awesome idea. If it's safe, i wouldn't mind driving the ~3 1/2 hrs. to the silo for a big event. This is an awesome idea. If it's safe, i wouldn't mind driving the ~3 1/2 hrs. to the silo for a big event.

ok I'm a newcomer to this group; and i have some questions. so we will purchase this silo/base, and turn it into a music venue/sick guitar shop?

and who will run it once we succeed?

I Am fully behind it!!

Oh, and i am still not fully sure, how much will this cost in total?

I'm 14 and in the UK. But what the hell? When I get some money in the bank I'll gladly donate. I also say that if the budget reaches, to get some kinda 'memorial' type plaque thing with names of everyone in the group or something. And have it in the silo.

Just kicking around some ideas.

I'm in the UK as well, and it's unlikely that I'll actually attend SiloFest in the foreseeable future, but I'm 100% behind the whole thing and I hope to hell we get zappp's backing. This is gonna rock! The site itself is 1500000 USD, probably another 500000 for renovations (at the absolute minimum) god only knows how much manpower well need but UGers will probably do the brunt of this.
Id say by the end this will cost at the minimum-3 million dollars
