what was your first impression of Eric Clapton?
at the time I was listening to older (but not too old) rock, folk, and (older) pop love songs alot. the first Eric Clapton song I had heard was "wonderful tonight" I could have sworn it was a love song writen by god (and who knows maybe it was) it blue me away. I got a clapton greatest hits CD right away. I played the song for months. to this day it never gets old. theres very few songs I can honestly say that about.

I think I was spoiled the first time I heard EC. The first thing I heard from Eric was the Blues Breaker’s version of “Hideaway”. Wow – that Les Paul tone was amazing! The next 2 albums I bought were the Derek and the Dominoes LP and the Blind Faith LP. Again, these are masterpieces. When EC is on, he is on. But albums like August and Behind the Sun are really bad. Have seen him three times total over the past few years. The last tour with Derek Trucks was really good. The old man is still the best player on the stage! |

I'm not sure what was the first Clapton song I heard, but when I was a baby my dad used to pat out Key to the Highway on my back and (very occasionally) sing bits of it (and very badly too)
I heard Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs from a young age cause my dad would play it sometimes, and although I liked the sound I never really gave it much thought other than that. Then, when I was 14, I listened to it again, and it just blew me away...it was kind of like a religious experience, everything just kind of clicked and I was hooked from then on

i don't remember the first song i heard by him, but after listeging to layla (the album), it just hit me, how amazing he was, and listening to Blind Faith is something that has never gotten old. |

My first impression was when I was 13 and playing guitar hero at a friends and couldn't beat Crossroads, so naturally, I thought it was terrible. Then I found the album 'Stages' and grew some music taste :P |

I heard "White Room" by Cream and really liked it. Then I tried listening to Derek and the Dominos and absolutely hated it. I really dislike Eric Clapton, I'm sorry |
