Blues songs outside the 12-bar scheme

hendrixfanatic

What are your favourite Blues songs that don't use the twelve bar scheme?
Mine are: Hard times - Ray Charles (ok, no guitar tune), Midnight rambler - The Rolling Stones, and Voodoo chile (slight return)/Voodoo chile blues (both great versions)

jimi hendrix has some great songs outside of the 12 bar scheme, and SRV did a few as well. I also like "soul" kind of of chord progression, if you know what im saying. Blues uses them a lot, im not quite sure how to describe them though jimi hendrix has some great songs outside of the 12 bar scheme, and SRV did a few as well. I think most of Blind Willie McTell's stuff isn't 12 bar blues, though that's coz it hadn't really been invented. I think most of Blind Willie McTell's stuff isn't 12 bar blues, though that's coz it hadn't really been invented.

Most of john lee hookers stuff, the man could do more with one chord than most could with 20!

Take a listen to 'tupelo blues' i honestly get shivers just thinking about it. One of the most eerie blues songs i've ever heard.
