What are your favourite Blues songs that don't use the twelve bar scheme? Mine are: Hard times - Ray Charles (ok, no guitar tune), Midnight rambler - The Rolling Stones, and Voodoo chile (slight return)/Voodoo chile blues (both great versions)

jimi hendrix has some great songs outside of the 12 bar scheme, and SRV did a few as well. I also like "soul" kind of of chord progression, if you know what im saying. Blues uses them a lot, im not quite sure how to describe them though |

I think most of Blind Willie McTell's stuff isn't 12 bar blues, though that's coz it hadn't really been invented. |

Most of john lee hookers stuff, the man could do more with one chord than most could with 20!
Take a listen to 'tupelo blues' i honestly get shivers just thinking about it. One of the most eerie blues songs i've ever heard. |
