Anne Rice has very good vampire books (Interview with the vampire, Queen of the damned, etc). Also i find to really enjoy reading Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series though they are half teen romance novels (human teenager and vampire fall in love and their struggle to stay together and alive). The first part will actually be coming out as a movie this November i think.

Right now i've been reading the Dante Valentine series by Lilith Saintcrow. So far i've only finished the first book ("Working for the Devil"... there's 5 parts) and started the second one. The first one is about a Necromance who is forced to work for Lucifer and only has Japhrimel, the devil's personal assassin and right hand, as her main ally though she's not sure if she can trust him. She must find and destroy a runaway demon with an "egg" that may destroy humankind and throw away the order in hell.

I also happened to really enjoy reading The Divine Commedy by Dante (or at least the first half of Inferno since i never got the chance to finish everything during school). It's a tough read but well worth it if you gather up some notes to help you understand everything along the way.

lol i'm also looking for any other good vampire books :P

oh i almost forgot: "I am legend" (u probably know the movie but the books is very different from it.), the "Eragon" series (teenage guy becomes a dragon rider and must overthrow the king; don't worry, the book is great despite the fact that the movie sucked. the movie's storyline isn't even parallel to the book's.) "Blood and Chocolate" (female warewolf falls in love with human despite her pack's objections), "The Silver Kiss" (girl falls in love with vampire and helps him destroy his brother), "Kingdom of the Grail" (Merlin's son must defeat his demon grandfather before he finds the Holy Grail. His only help is a beautiful woman who is one of the grail's guardians and her shape-shifting demon pet.), "Basilisk" (opressed slaves try to destroy a machine that turns nightmares into reality before the king uses it to release a fierce dragon to kill his own people who resist his ruling.) Yep... i became a bookworm when i was a senior in high school. And no, i'm not ashamed of reading love stories as long as there's some supernatural stuff going on in there.

I'd recommend The Mortal Instruments Trilogy. Amazon Link for the first book.
