what is the lead guitarist/lee malias setup?
like how do i get his sound? |
saw 'em once at Warped, and then again yesterday.
They played Krank Heads through Marshall Cabs at Warped. Looked like revolution series heads, and it was an angled 1960 with black grill clothe, so prolly 1960a or av.
yesterday, at Metro Chicago they played peavey 6505 heads, i didn't see plus series, but they might've been. Lead guitarist played through a 612 emperor cabinet, and rhythm guy had a stack of emperor cabs. no idea on speakers.
at both shows the lead guitarist played what looked like a First Act Sheena with an EMG humbucker in the bridge, and an EMG single coil in the neck.
the other guy played an ibanez RG series which i'm pretty sure was an RGT6EXFX because it had the offset inlays, EMG's, and no trem.
i could only see the bassists cab, which was an ampeg svt810, and he played a fender jazz bass. didn't see pickups, but the finish looked like it was american

Go heavy on the Mids, like 8 or 9 and go heavy on the gain, like 8 or 9, and treble and bass both around 7.

what are people thinking of the new album ?
i think its pretty decent from what ive heard but its seriously lacking the thing that made CYB an exellent album, its all too bassy, and it seems to me they're going in a direction trying to get a fresh fanbase of proper metalheads rather than faggy emo kids, but thats a bad thing, the lyrics are worse with things like " repent, repay" i mean honestly the guys can do better than that, it still has some pretty ambience type thing in the songs but this time its all synthed in instead of being guitar based |
from what releases ive already heard, it seems interesting... like a real mixture of different sounds. its a lot different from their first album and EP, and im sure they'll lose 75% of their old fans with this new sound, but im sure they will also gain many more new ones. maybe they're hoping to go more mainstream this time.
