I come from a background of all kinds of music, except Christian. I grew up listening to country, then transitioned to rock in the 80's with bands like Van Halen and Bon Jovi. Then I got heavier with bands like Gn'R, Metallica, Megadeth, etc. In the early 90's I was in an alternative rock band covering bands like Nirvana, Live, RHCP, Days of the New, etc. After that I played in a metal band for a while covering the metal bands listed above along with Pantera and Sepultura. Then I reverted back to country for a while, which brings me up to the present. A little over a year ago I gave my life to Christ. One of the things that contributed to my conversion in faith was the Christian contemporary music played on the radio. Christian music has come a long way in the past 15 years! Music from Chris Tomlin, Third Day, Casting Crowns, and many others is every bit as good as any music on the radio. If I only had secular stuff to listen to I don't know if I'd be saved yet today.
