60s-70s Rock n Roll

Feelings on current rock

gr8rflamingorox	I think that rock, or what's left of it, has transformed from music to people just writing these songs off the tops of their heads, hoping it goes over with listeners. Though, I really like The Fray. I think if they keep at the pace that they're at right now, they just might make the hall of fame. So many new bands over use the piano, too. Not against the piano! Give me Paul McCartney on piano any day. I play piano for my band. I just think now its starting to get overused (i know. spelling). Also, as I commented, What happened to the guitar solos? It seems like new guitarist has the energy or time between VIP parties to put one together, let alone practise it! And Nickleback? For the loveamike, GET A THROAT LOSANGE!!!! aig91	There aren't a lot of current rock bands that I really like. Airborne is a cool band, the White Stripes are great. I like Velvet Revolver too. I'll have to try and think of more later. Hamburger89	Try too look less on the surface and go underground, you'll find weird shit there too but it's a hell of a lot better then what you see on mtv. White stripes are cool, I like the kaiser chiefs, franz ferdinands fine, radiohead is good, Megadeth is getting worse, that's pretty much the only "current" rock I listen too sometimes. |Guitarhead|	There are not many. I don't like bands such as The Kaiser Chiefs, Fratellis, etc. but at least their stuff can be called music unlike all those pathetic genres like rap, hiphop, etc... One of my favorite bands is MUSE. Their stuff is just excellent. I consider them one of the best bands ever. I also like The White Stripes a lot. Their music is very creative and sounds great. hendrixfanatic	Well, I like some indie stuff, like The Strokes and Arctic Monkeys (they rule my universe! Alex is a great singer/lyricist, and their songs are awesome). I'm really looking forward to Alex Turner's sideproject, The Last Shadow Puppets, but I don't know what you guys think of that (the single is quite baroque, with lots of horns and strings, but great bass playing as well). Chris_Parker	I think that a lot of rock these days is really like it came off a mass produced assembly line, i.e. most of it sounds the same. I especially hate the whole emo thing that's going on right now. Hopefully that dies like grunge (flannel every now and then is okay, I guess...). I'm actually surprised that I like any "modern" stuff at all. In fact, nearly everything I listen to has some sort of classic rock vibe, influence, or loose connection. You'll never catch me listening to Fall Out Boy, but stuff like Priestess (I speak specifically of Lay Down), has such a chuggy, late 60s kind of thing going on. meandmusic	Todays rock is nothing like it used to be. I love rock from the 70s and 80s. I know a lot of the bands arent still around today, which is why I love a good cover band.
