How many people on here purchase/collect vinyls? That was basically the format of music for decades, right? I know it's probably easier to get the remastered CDs and whatnot, but I think it takes true appeciation of the music to buy an old vinyl, either because most people have no idea how to play them, don't own a record player, or, like me, their needle is jacked up.
Well, if you've got 'em, post your collection up here (60s-70s only, obviously). I'll start. I'm still kind of starting in this whole thing, but I have like 50 records total.
Don McLean - American Pie
Boston - Boston (the first two records I ever bought)
The Monkees - The Monkees (my mom's old stuff...)
#1 Hits of the 60s (4 vinyl compilation, great stuff)
KDWB's 21 All-Time Dream Hits (Radio Demo compilation)
American Graffiti Official Soundtrack (2 vinyls)
Grease OST (Also 2 vinyls)
Burt Bacharach - Reach Out
(What the world, needs now/Is love, sweet love!)
Cream -Disraeli Gears
(I'm kind of mad at myself for not buying Fresh Cream a
few weeks ago, actually. Bad move, considering it was only $5 and
in great condition!)
The Doors - Greatest Hits (Techinically period-correct, right?)
Wild Cherry - Wild Cherry (awesome condition, it was a radio demo copy
sent directly to a radio station prior to it's
release; it's got a sticker with track listings,
suggested songs to play, and a band logo on the
sticker!)
Jimi Hendrix - War Heroes (One of my favorite purchases!)
Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsys (has RIAA certified gold stamp on front, great
condition fold out, 1 vinyl. Love it, and only
$4.50! )
Well that's it so far, how about everyone else?

I don't purchase or collect vinyls. But I listen to my parent's old vinyls a lot. They have a lot of Beatles, Queen, Rolling Stones, Three Dog Night, and other stuff. Vinyls are pretty cool imo. |

We have a lot too. Like 90% of them are my mom's old motown and disco albums. I don't really listen to those. lol. But a few of them are my dad's classic rock albums and I can't get enough of them. |

Yea my dad has an uncountable amount of vinyls. Most all are classic rock, he has some really awesome vinyls of some local bands back in the 70s. I guess local music in Louisville was actually good at one time. |

I love vinyl. My coolest one is a promo copy of "The Best Of Cream" (the one with all the vegetables on it). It's not in the best condition, but the vinyl noise makes it sound so much more "real". I love it. |

I've got quite a big, varied collection (especially since I started buying vinyl a year and a half ago), all secondhand (the main reason I started buying vinyl was the price of CD's). These are my favourite classic rockish things:
LP's:
- Rockin' with Chuck Berry
- The LP of JB - James Brown
- I can stand a little rain - Joe Cocker
- Rocky mountain holiday - John Denver & The Muppets
- Dire Straits' self-titled debut
- Songs in the attic - Billy Joel (and some others of his, but this is my favourite)
- Led Zeppelin IV
- Imagine - John Lennon
- Hejira - Joni Mitchell
- Regetta de blanc - The Police (also got synchronicity, but I don't like it that much)
- Stones Story (a 2LP Rolling Stones compilation with all their sixties singles)
- Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen (An eighties album, but I'd love to have vinyl versions of his seventies work)
Singles:
She's not there - Santana; Purple rain - Prince; Master blaster (jammin') - Stevie Wonder; Don't look back - Mick Jagger & Peter Tosh; Jealous guy - Roxy Music; Don't stand so close to me & De do do do, de da da da - The Police; I love rock 'n roll - Joan Jett; Private investigations - Dire Straits. |

I've Got a couple, The White Album, Sgt Peppers with all the cut outs un-cut and The Jimi Hendrix Experience Smash Hits . I have a few coloured vinyls from more modern bands like the red Rag and Bone record by the White Stripes. I also Have all the Led Zeppelin Cds that come in a replica of the original vinyl cases, i thought this way i could use them and have the albums the way the were designed like the Physical Graffiti cover with all the little windows. Also like everyone else my mums got a few good records around the house, somewhere. |
