What the hell is with these emails?

I keep getting these emails with "***random user*** is looking for your help" in the subject line.

***random user*** created a tab request for **random artist** - **random song** guitar pro and marked you as the most suitable author on Ultimate Guitar to fulfill it.

Who are these random requestors and why am I "chosen" as the most suitable author?
I have no idea who they are and all of the song I have been "chosen" for are songs I would never, in a million, years spend my time doing? What's going on with this?

When a user requests a tab, a few options come up of authors who have tabbed similar songs in the past, and one of them can be chosen to be notified about the request if selected- so that's where that comes from, I've had a couple before!

All about tab requests:
Missing Tab Requests sticky's - Lately I have found that some of my stickies have been missing from my personal Tab Requests sticky's list. I have old and new requests in my profile of which I am working on several at the same time. I spent a lot of time working on a few that I planned to submit very soon but the requests are now nowhere to be found. What's the point of working on these requests if they just disappear? It doesn't make any sense that there is one song that I stickied many months ago and it is still there but some that I just stickied a month or two are gone. They haven't been fulfilled by anyone else. They just aren't there.
This brings up another question - Why is it that some very old requests that I have stickied in my personal profile cannot be found in the request queue but they still exist in my profile? Do they exist or not? It seems that if I unsticky them they will be gone forever and there is no way to retrieve the request regardless of the fact that no one el

With the new 'New Singles' section (fantastic idea!), could someone go through and remove all of the songs that don't exist at all/already have a version in the database as there are quite a lot!

there should be transpose and auto scroll button while creating tabs, no need to get approved first.

Just had one of my most popular tabs edited (or should I say butchered) by Konstantinbond. 'Sometimes it snows in April',aAs with all my tab contributions, I spend a lot of time transcribing a song, but also take great care to make them as neat and well formatted as I can, so really it pisses me off when someone edits a tab and leaves it in a complete mess. Particularly irritating when it's someone who has not even made one tab contribution to the site themselves. The only explanation was 'Your tab has been used for collection' , so I really don't know what UG are now tinkering with, but leaving my tab in the state it was is a real kick in the teeth for the years of contributions I have made to UG. I have now reverted the tab back as I originally had it.
If this is the way things are likely to continue with any more of my tabs you will not be receiving any more contributions from me, and I shall go to another tab site where they will hopefully leave well alone.

Just an observation... But it seems that in the TABS IN QUEUE that since the CHORD TABS don't automatically show up with the chords highlighted in blue and that you have to click preview to see them that way the number of tabs have dramatically increased that are waiting to be accepted or rejected... Wouldn't it speed things up a lot more if they were already shown that way when you first went to look to approve or reject the tab.... Just a thought...

10 highly rated tabs is NOT correct and it should be removed from the guide entirely. UG doesn't actually release the info on what it takes to hit level 4 because they don't want people submitting a bunch of nonsense tabs just to get to that level. They should really just say that level 4 is decided by several factors and you will be notified if you qualify for that level which is true.

Ahhhhhhh, gotcha. Gotcha. Thanks, Carrie. Yeah, I agree; it does lead to tension and confusion on the matter. Some folks saying one thing, others saying other things. Fortunately, there is no major limits on songs to submit, just adequate ones to try out :D

Guys,
is there a generally accepted standard on the site that should be followed for strumming patterns? Because I never know whether I'm free to show the pattern in my own way or whether I'm doing it "wrong".

I like to show the strumming pattern in a more detailed way than the way I've seen it in most other tabs, e.g:
1 2 3 4
D,D,D,D,DU

In my latest tab, for example, I did it like this since a lot of the strokes are on sixteenth notes and some strokes are much lighter than others (explaining my thinking to the readers, of course):
1 . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . 4 . . .
D (D) U D D (D) U D D (D)(U)

Okay, that pattern did not turn out the way I thought when I typed the comment, but maybe you get the idea :P
