Tear at the voice inside Dig a deeper tomb and all the self can finally resonate, resonate, resonate, resonate Tread on the path of pride You can be the god and let the faith become your enemy, enemy, enemy, enemy
Breathe redemption into wasted life Closer, closer Find the wrath of God inside your eyes Closer, closer
[Chorus:] Breathe deep And as the fear before you falls I know the pain is so unsettling Breathe deep So now you’ve built a thousand walls But in the end it’s all unraveling
Stand with a worthless sign Wave it in the path of every face you cannot tolerate, tolerate, tolerate, tolerate
Breathe redemption into wasted life Closer, closer Find the wrath of God inside your eyes Closer, closer
[Chorus]
This is the last day that you will regret Wake from your sleep and never forget This is the last day that you will regret Closer, closer
[Chorus]
Closer, closer, closer, closer
[Unintentionally, The Wrath Of God almost acts as a sequel to Fiction Kingdom. The song essentially begs the listener to wake from their spiritual coma, and live in reverence of God and his power. I aim these lyrics at those who live their lives for themselves, with no care for their own spiritual welfare. I ask them to evaluate their place in this life and to open their eyes to God’s presence. You can ignore God, but that doesn’t make him disappear. Your choice to disbelieve doesn’t change God’s objective presence.
Yet because the wicked do not fear God, it will not go well with them, and their days will not lengthen like a shadow. -Ecclesiastes 8: 13]

I love these lyrics too, one time that I listened I almost cried, realizing how far from God I had gotten. The only thing that confuses me is the line 'find the wrath of God inside your eyes', why should we have the 'wrath of God'?

My favorite DH lyrics are 'Not I' and 'Ribcage', because I am a struggling alcoholic. These songs get me so revved up to quit, but as the days come, I fail repeatedly.

I think it means that your heart grieves when you see evil. Just as the Lord's heart grieves when he sees evil. Our goal as Christians is to be as Christ like as we can and that heart grieving is the Holy Spirit inside of us.
But as for my favorite lyrics.....I have to think about that one. I'll get back to you guys though.

Alright I think mine is Beauty Through the Eyes of a Predator off of Summer of Darkness.
I'm not the only one who can't see why it crossed your mind
I see your life and death reduce into a product line
It's not enough to see you speaking through the blindest of eyes
The same dead, cold breath is reducing mine
I can't see why
You're not a saint, you're a thief
You can't deny
It's all a ploy underneath.
All I've seen (you better learn to keep your face under the dark)
All I need (wake up and feel the blood escape your heart)
Your disease (for every word that you devalue and mistake)
I can't breathe (for every soul you nauseate with what you say)
CHORUS:
You've brought this verdict on yourself (before we ever had a chance)
I hope you cry for the one's you've lost.
You built this burden when you fell (you know we never took a glance)
I hope it's worth all the blood it cost.
It's been a long way back from the dissipated path
Only half way through, say goodbye and take a breath
And when the end shines new with the burn of nothing left
I'll give you one last chance to say you're done and give it back.
I won't agree.
Your remedy is a joke. I can't believe.
That you can breathe and not choke.
(CHORUS)
Peddle your faith to the blind.
And cheapen the love that you feel so painful.
Pushing the guilt through yourself.
And suffer the mold of a prime example.
(CHORUS)
I feel my lungs beginning to burn.
With every foolish word that you spit, another nail you'll get.
(off of songmeanings.net)
It reminds me that people are watching what I do and are following and I am responsible for leading others astray. Like the song says 'every foolish word you spit, another nail you'll get" It says to me that every word/action I do that is unpure and it leads others astray it is another nail in my coffin sealing my fate. I've got two younger brothers here at home that I have to be careful around, and be a good example for.

Okay, Aroz1 has got me wanting to post the whole lyric for my favorite song. I want to do 'not ready to die' but the line 'when I'm taken to the skies and you're still here' doesn't seem right. If Jesus came tomorrow I think I would be left behind, what a wake up call that would be! Anyways, I'm going with 'Ribcage', cause it describes my life best.
Ribcage
All hail the newborn sin, reject the boundaries, soak the cancer in.
Hope kills the filth you crave, so bleed the truth out, fall into that grave.
Uphold the brand new skin, accept the failure, refuse to rise above,
break through the ribcage, and tear the heart out from everyone you love.
Over and over again, we'll bury the shame underneath the lies we breathe,
over and over again, we'll carry the blame for the hell that we can't leave.
Show me...the path that leads into your mind.
Release...the pain you lock so deep inside.
Show me...I'm the one who knew this pain.
Release...Before you fall into this again.
Behold the loyal slave, his rotting shell now a tomb where death can play,
see now, his pride caves in, alone he fights, to stop this dark decay...
FEED, FEED, the lust you NEED! And fainter grows each plea from skies above,
break through the ribcage, and tear the heart out from everyone you love.
Over and over again, we'll bury the shame underneath the lies we breathe,
over and over again, we'll carry the blame for the hell that we can't leave.
Show me...the path that leads into your mind.
Release...the thoughts you lock so deep inside.
Show me...I'm the one who knew this pain.
Release...before you fall into this again.
BUILDING A LIFE OUT OF ALL THAT YOU HATE,
WE SEE THROUGH THE FRONT THAT YOU TRIED TO CREATE.
THE WORLD YOU HAD HOPED FOR WAS ONLY A FAKE!
JUST LIKE THE MAGGOTS THAT MADE YOU THIS WAY!
I KNOW!
Such a powerful song, especially if you're the one experiencing the addiction, but I guess it would be just as powerful to the one that's having their heart torn out by the addict. This song makes me wonder, 'what exactly is wrong with me?'.
On a different note, I wish DH would be more 'upfront' with the lyrics. For example, instead of 'fainter grows each plea from skies above', they could say, 'ignoring all the gifts of Jesus' love'. Sorry to nitpick, I just thought for a Christian band, they never really mention Christ.

I know how you feel. I'm trying to come up with a lesson for something that is like a school youth group. It was a last minute thing, but anyway, I like to speak from songs. But it is a good way to give the Message and draw the unsaved and then they think about it and go "Oh, wow, this all makes sense".
