The4thHorsemen wrote on Aug 16th, 2008 2:15amI figure I'll join this group. I've never posted in the newbie forum except for when I was a noob, mostly cuz it never occurred to me, but I have on several occasions got on someone's ass for being mean to newbies and try to be as nice as I can. Now that I've thought about it I'll probably help out int the newbie forum a little every now and then. quote |

I like the idea you guys have, i used to be a newbie, i never really got flamed for it, but all the same, i don't want others to feel the pain of Airship....
Airship / 5th fret was a different thing entirely.
That was in The Pit.
If you say something goofy in The Pit, you're fair game to whatever happens.
The Newbie Forum is different. It's a safe place to get started and ask questions that others might think basic and obvious. It's a place to welcome people and lead by example. Even the assholes who I'd pwn in The Pit for being mean, I simply report in the Newbie Forum. Or just quote them and say that they're wrong.
But yeah, I felt bad for Airship. They destroyed him, then danced on his bones.
fwiw, you can tell a lot about a UGer by how they dealt with that one. |
Yeah, I venture into the Newbie forum now and again. I enjoy helping out some new members, or some completely new g

divid3d wrote on Jul 13th, 2008 2:35pmhey everyone, just wanted to let you all know that i appreciate what you guys and girls do in the newb forum.
it's really refreshing to enter a thread which has been posted in the wrong place, or which should have been in the intro thread, to find that one or more of you have already posted in it to welcome the person, explain where they went wrong and provide helpful information. it means i can usually just close or move the thread and not have to spend as much time explaining things, which as you know can get a little tedious in there haha.
so basically, thank you for your assistance! keep up the good work quote |

i just politely point it out and show them where to go quote |
AngryGoldfish wrote on Jun 13th, 2008 2:28pmI still get p'wned every now and then, but I return the favor. . I think owning someone is a lovely joke and a great way to break any ice that may be overwhelming some, but you shouldn't take it to far. I guess this will help people understand the limits of the joke and how it can hurt if its not co-ordinated. quote |
