Robbie Robertson, Levon Helm, Rick Danko, Richard Manuel, and Garth Hudson were five of the finest musicians to ever play together. They made many classic recordings from the late 1960s to the mid-70s. Who can forget The Weight, The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Up On Cripple Creek, Ophelia, Tears Of Rage, King Harvest (Has Surely Come), and the loads of other amazing songs they played. Their studio albums were always good: Music From Big Pink, The Band, Stage Fright, Cahoots, Moondog Matinee, Northern-Lights Southern Cross, and Islands. The Band has also done some amazing live recordings, namely Rock Of Ages and The Last Waltz. Sadly, they broke up in 1976. Since then, Richard Manuel and Rick Danko have both passed away, Richard in 1986, and Rick since 1999. While it is heartbreaking to know that these five amazing musicians will never play again, we will always have the records. Though they may be gone, the Band will live on forever in our hearts and our ears.
