Personally, I own my Fender American Deluxe Jazz V in ash. I also own a '51 Precision Reissue from 1990. I used to own a Mexican Jazz V and a Japanese Fender Fretless Jazz. Well, this just went up on the comments but...

Marcus Miller Signature IV
I can't remember the exact year, but tempted to say, it's basically a 1977 RI with an active preamp + active/passive switch. Oh yes, plus the sexy inlays.

If you ever get the chance to play one of these, do. The neck is absolutely orgasmic.

Cheers.

MIM Fretless J. I found a great MIJ Jaco bass that I loved, but I didn't have the money at the time to buy it and have never found it again. :( MIM Fretless J. I found a great MIJ Jaco bass that I loved, but I didn't have the money at the time to buy it and have never found it again. :(

I've got an MIA P-Bass and I'm considering either getting an MIM Jazz Fretless or an MIJ P-Bass in sonic blue (sexiest colour EVAR!!!111!!!!!1!) and modding the crap out of it, darkstar in the bridge, Badass II, Lindy Fralin precision pickup, I'll just do everything I can to it! I have a Mark Hoppus signiture P-bass in surf green. I would love a red jazz bass, but right now i'm happy with what I have. I have a Mark Hoppus signiture P-bass in surf green. I would love a red jazz bass, but right now i'm happy with what I have.

I play a 1965 L Series P Bass, 1978 P Bass, 1998 American Deluxe 4 String Jazz and a 1998 American Deluxe 5 string Jazz. The best tone??..... The L series by far!! it's unbelievable!!! Leo was a genius!! If you ever get the opportunity to play a pre CBS Fender, take it! you won't believe the beautiful tone from these instruments. The P and J bases are the industry standard, I have been a pro player for 35 years, Fender bass is the sound most recording engineers want!
