OKay guys, ask what whatever you want to you know about it. I'll start, where is a good place to buy reflectors for the back?

There used to be a kit sold on ebay for $10. And all you had to do was cut one of the orange ones in half. They had adhesive backings...took 2 minutes top to install. However, the price went up to $15...and now I can't find them anymore. However, there is somebody selling a kit that has a neck pickup, 1971 quarter, reflectors, and maybe some other stuff for...are you ready for it...$51.50 =) Other than that...I've heard people finding the exact same reflectors at auto parts stores. I think you have to take it all out. What you do is, paint it balck and then tape it and paint it white.

yeah the best thing is too take it all apart so you just have the body, just try and remember how you took everything off. If you run into problems just come here.

As for painting, i would give the original finish a sanding with course sand paper, then go over it again with a smoother sand paper, then paint it. I wouldnt clear coat it cause it gets rid of that vintage look. IMO But whatever you like do that :)

Yeah a soldering iron is a must have tool for guitarist. That way you can do your own electronic repairs or mods on your guitar and you can fix your cables too. Are you just going with the one pickup? Next month I think they are releasing a EVH pickup that is supposed to be just like the original...$150 or $350 signed by EVH. I seen it on MF, but I think its not coming out until March. Other than that, I'd just look for a Seymour Duncan humbucker. Are you just going with the one pickup? removed the pickguard if there is one, the pickups should unscrew from the body. If you're redoing the wiring you can be really sloppy here and just tear everything out without really too much caution. But if you plan on reusing the pickups, pots, wires, etc. you might not want to disconnect all the wires. The ultimate wiring diagrams thread on UG is a good place to go for wiring questions. They will answer it correctly and quickly. removed the pickguard if there is one, the pickups should unscrew from the body. That's the one I put in mine. It's the GFS VEH (Vintage Extra Hot). It sounds pretty good but your amp is what really shapes your tone the most. It's not gonna make you sound like Eddie instantly but it is a good pickup. That's the one I put in mine. It's the GFS VEH (Vintage Extra Hot). Hey everyone, I was just inspired to go full out on making a frankenstrat with an old SSS fender. Just one question, how in the world do you guys make the scratchs and dinges without over doing it? Im sortof new in relicing things. Any suggestions? What about aging the hardware? Thanks in advance. Hey everyone, I was just inspired to go full out on making a frankenstrat with an old SSS fender. Aging hardware: a guy I knew at Roberto-Venn would relic his hardware using muriatic (pool) acid. Here's a link that may help: http://relicdeluxe.com/hardware_tremolo_bridge.asp d7

Get an inexpensive rock tumbler. Fill it with rocks and your hardware. After a few hours, soak the hardware in bleach. It will rust in a few hours. Get an inexpensive rock tumbler. Fill it with rocks and your hardware. After a few hours, soak the hardware in bleach. It will rust in a few hours.

You could do what Eddie Van Halen did and use bicycle paint.

to answer my own question and hopefully help someone out in the future i purchased an evh strap on the bay (made of leather and velcro for adjustments) loosened the velcro and then put snap hooks on the end. Most people complain that the regular strap 72-53 inches is too long, so i got the shorter one. Mine is like 40-53, and I feel it is just long enough for me and I'm about 6'1" so looking back i would have rather got the longer one. hope this helps any one considering it.
