he did but he mainly played a strat |
he played a strat because he started with one
it wasnt out of choice but out of the fact he was usedto it. plus he played it the wrong way round. i hardly think he would have bought it like that so that defeates any arguement of hendrix choosing strats

Homeslice91 wrote on Aug 26th, 2008 2:18pmstrats are an overdone design and you can buy guitars 10 times better for the price (talking about genuin models)
i myself would invest money in something else thats for sure
the shape is also very generic and if you have a black strat with a white pickguard it looks like a really tacky cheap guitar.
my advice for anyone who for some reason is going to buy one. at least choose a different colour to the norm, change the pickups or have it customised in some way so it doesnt look plain and boring quote |

Greg Harper wrote on Mar 8th, 2008 12:02pmMMM nice idea but I cant see any argument. At this moment I think they are awesome. Please tell us why - I'm intrigued. I also like the fact that you rate guitars on how they look. The body is so boring because everyone uses it. Why? Because it works. It has perfect resonating qualities that only Fender woods will have in this shape. Do some homework. Good idea for a group though. quote |

fLYinGV23 wrote on Feb 15th, 2008 3:44pmthere's nothing wrong with strat's, some of the greatest guitar player's have used them (eric clapton, stevie ray vaughan, jimi hendrix, even tony iommi at one point) sure it's a boring shape, but thats only because so many companies have copied it. the pick-up's are fine if you get a REAL one. and like Dimster said "Meliac, get over yourself". quote |

MatrixClaw wrote on Jan 10th, 2008 9:17amlol this makes me laugh.
Pickups on strats aren't weak on real ones, aka American ones, and it's most deffinately NOT an amateur guitar. I play metal and was in the same boat as you guys thinking the shape is too overdone, not good for metal, etc. But then traded my EC-1000 for one and wow, single coils might not get as much gain as humbuckers (the lower output ones), but once you put a boost on them through an amp to get a good amount of gain... Singlecoils > Humbuckers. Go listen to my pedal tests, the better of the two is the Strat, no contest. quote |
