Hey SSL,
I will be picking up a brand new Ibanez S7320 as soon as my car is fixed.
I was wondering if anyone has experience with diffent pickups in the bridge postion. Which is the best one for defined aggressive heaviness?
I've heard the EMG 707 is nice, but I don't think i will be doing any routing into the wood of a brand new guitar. Unless it was sooo worth it.
Or maybe the stock pickups are good to go?

My advice (like always) is to get a killer sound with the stocks first, if you shape you tone around the sound of the actual guitar with stock pickups, upgrading them will only make the sound better right. But entirely it is up to you, im still in the process of ordering a D sonic 7, but i've heard clips of blackouts and EMG's in the S models and they truly slay. |

I've gotta agree with hmmm there. I've never tried D sonics or Blaze's though. Hopefully when I get a new 7 string, I can do the same. Or "pimp" out my current 7 by sculpting the body and new paint job with my friend.<br />
<br />
Definitely check your stock pickups with the gear you have. Stock pickups on most Ibanez's aren't too bad. On my starter-kit Ibanez (my very first guitar), I still use it, because the bridge pickup gives me a tone like Lamb of God, and I've never gotten that with my ltd. Viper-400 that has EMG's. Then again, I'd have to EQ it differently. But if anything, I'd say try D-Activators. They're like actives, but they are passive, and no routing.<br />
<br />
it's all about options. So give it a week or two with some serious sound criticism and then think about pickups. |

I found the stock pickups kinda muddy on the S7320, so I ended up getting Duncan Blackouts PH1, because I wanted active without routing. It was quite an improvement, the B string is way more defined.<br />
I'm loving the the sound actually, having a hard time putting it down.<br />
Thanksf for the imput. |

Anything will sound good. I'd advise checking out Seymour Duncan, though. They sound great in mahogany. However, as said, pickups make up less of the sound than most people expect, unless you make a radical change in output or something. |

I was pretty impressed with Dimarzio D-activators, I was considering those for my guitar. I was also thinking blackouts :0 |
