The H&K Settings thread!

digger35

Hey H&K users, come in and post your settings for each channel. Feel free to ask anything tone related!

My settings:
H&K Trilogy

Clean:

Treble: 3 O'Clock
Middle: 11 O'Clock
Bass: 10 O'Clock

Usually don't have the sparkle mode on, only when I really want pristine sounding cleans.

Crunch:

Treble: 12.5 O'Clock
Middle: 3 O'Clock
Bass: 12.5 O'Clock
Gain: 1 O'Clock

I have the boost on almost always and I get a good Metallica AJFA tone. I use it w/o boost for earlier rock 'n' roll, like Johnny B. Goode and some SRV type stuff.

Lead/Ultra:

Treble: 2 O'Clock
Middle: 11.5 O'Clock
Bass: 2 O'Clock
Lead Gain: 2.5 O'Clock
Ultra Gain: 12 O'Clock

I don't use the Ultra channel too much, it's sound is a little too compressed for my tastes.

Presence: 9 O'Clock
FX Mix: 2.5 O'Clock
FX Loop: Parallel

I just run my Small Clone and MXR Carbon Copy in the loop, until I get a new reverb pedal and my noise gate.

So, now you guys post yours, and if you can, give me some tips on getting a less fizzy/harsh/grainy high gain sound on my lead and ultra lead channel! Get posting! :wtf:

Do you think that if I changed the tubes out to 6L6s that I'd get a smoother, more modern high gain?
Also, could it be the fact that my cab doesn't have a back on it yet?

yes you should get a more modern gain tone. the difference with my switchblade and the mesa is the hk has a liquid gain type of tone where everything just flows while the mesa have a crunch type of gain. yes you should get a more modern gain tone. the difference with my switchblade and the mesa is the hk has a liquid gain type of tone where everything just flows while the mesa have a crunch type of gain.

I have the Switchblade 100 Watt head playing through a Kustom cab with Celestions. I play a Hellraiser Deluxe with active EMG pickups. When I feel like learning cover songs, I learn Satriani, Lamb of God, or In Flames, sometimes Disturbed. What kind of tubes (EL-34 or 6L6) and what brand should I get? I've heard that certain brands have distinct tones(either darker or brighter). My preference is versatility over anything because I don't like to be limited to one sound. I saw on the H&K forum that you'll need to add a bias pot mod to put 6L6 tubes in it. any truth to that? Where in Long Island are you from? I'm from Holbrook, Exit 62 L.I.E.
