Sometimes it can take a year or 2 of hard work. Not just the musicians but also the producers and engineers.

Beserker wrote on Dec 8th, 2009 5:03amHere's what I do: Go to a shitload of gigs. Although I have a sizeable CD collection I haven't bought a CD in quite a while; my main method of aquiring music these days is downloading. But I constantly support still-gigging bands by attending their concerts on a regular basis. I am sure that the bands get substantially more from a ticket sale than a CD sale (right?) I'll never be able to attend a concert of EVERY band that I download, but I'm doing a pretty good job I reckon. Probably been to about 40 gigs this year - that's a lot more money than most people pump into the music business. I don't know about you, but it certainly eases my conscience about pirating. quote |

But it does give people the ability to buy it if they wish.

The amount of people who download CDs is so high that the price of manufacturing so many replacements would certainly deal a huge blow to the company. But since it isn't the same, there's no need to. Making more CDs because people download doesn't mean more people will buy it.

Mmmhmm. I Alphabetize my CDs so every time I wake up I see a picture of Angus Young about to vomit

Well said. Completely stupid, I used to hitch a ride to the nearest farm and help them bail hay for the day for a measly 25 bucks. That would get me a couple packs of cigarettes, 1 or 2 cassette tapes, and a bag. Well worth it in my opinion.

Same reason you can put a car in cruise and leave the wheel and then sue the car company because it doesn't say in the manual not to leave the wheel.
