I'm using this thread to talk about some of satch's influences. Add your own input as needed. Let me start here by mentioning the 1 person who got Joe started and that is of course the late, great, Jimi Hendrix. Joe first heard Hendrix from his sisters playing his records on the family radio. Jimi Hendrix died September 18, 1970. At the time Joe was playing for his High School football team. When Joe got the news, he quit the football team and picks up the guitar. You can hear a lot of Hendrix in Joe, especially some of the bends Joe does and some of his other lead work. |

May I add that the day Joe heard of Jimi's death he was at football practice and when he heard of the death he told the coach he was quitting. That is quite a good move for him, but now I wonder if Joe is as good at football as he is at guitar, I try to picture Joe playing football but I cant lol. |

Another of Joe's big influences is Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. You can really hear Billy in Joe with those gritty double stops and double stop bends. |
