The Original Guitarist for The Red Hot Chili Peppers was Hilliel Slovak now he was truly a great guitarist he even taught Flea how to play Bass and his Heroin Over dose death was tragic but I must admit John is simply better the Hillie plain and simple.

I love John but technically Hillel was better... anyway Hillel is a legendary funk guitarist... on the other hand John will be remembered by his great melodies - he is close to funk but his kingdom is pop.. my humble opinion... let me know yours I love John but technically Hillel was better... anyway Hillel is a legendary funk guitarist... on the other hand John will be remembered by his great melodies - he is close to funk but his kingdom is pop.. my humble opinion... let me know yours

the technique Johny holds can only be compared with huge names...
very early in the age of 18, he was technically better than his idol jimi hendrix...
hillel was damn good, but if ya check the chilis albums you can't really find something that shows great technical skills...
Johny can play anything... he has just chosen a different way...
he has come to understannd that a pause after a half-bend can meen more than a 3 minute solo...
