i agree with both of you. they kick and rock it out very well. but it does depend on the song, for my to decide if they're metal or hard rock. maybe a little bit of both i agree with both of you. they kick and rock it out very well. but it does depend on the song, for my to decide if they're metal or hard rock. maybe a little bit of both

They are something, I don't mind some of their songs, but their stage names annoy me...
Matt Shadows  Synister Gates?

I was expecting to see this topic in here actualy. my friends and i talk about this subject all the time. i think there metal. some people call them sellouts, when refering to there newer music. i think they dont know what there talking about. if your truely into music you'd understand. oh also matt's vocals are less heavy because of what is called calluses on his vocal chords...it came from all of the hardcore screaming on there first album lol. i think they grew as musicians. oh and...skidrow..unmistakably one of hte sweetist metal bands out there..but songs like Ill Remember You..would you call them less metal for writing it? i say if you do your just rediculous. I agree there stage names our pretty lame...but it doesnt take away from my respect of them as musicians. by the way Capnkickass..your forgeting the Rev, Johnny Christ and Zachy Vengence. lol anyway..in the end it all comes down to hell...its there music. if your a fan great..if not..well its only your opinion. I don't really like them but i don't think anyone can deny that they are a metal band. Yeah they're mainstream, and all, but they aren't emo or just rock and roll, they just play metal with a new radio-friendly twist on the older style, just, in my opinion badly.... they're a bit like the hair-metal of this generation, catchy, and just a bit tougher than a straight rock and roll band... what exactly makes a band "hardcore punk"? oh and i bought the special eddition album..its really interesting actually. and according to them there music from there first two albums(sounding the seventh trumpet, and waking the fallen) were more on the punk side. actually two of there band members, jimmy and mat ( shadows and the rev.) started out in a punk band. now a days there just more focused on making better music. doesnt matter the genre. i mean..they always been kinda different like, theres no such thing as a typical a7x album because they dont really fall into genres. they just try to grow as musicians and i think thats what it should be all about.

ps..i love this topic..A7X is one of my fav. bands.
