Does having thicker strings on a guitar make it harder to play. On that note if you play on steel strings does that make it easier to play on electric strings? Generallly, yes. The tension increases with thicker strings, unless you're dropping tunings. About the steel strings, yeah, I've found it easier.

BTW, next time you make a thread, clear it with me, Unforgotten, or mikko.

Thicker strings are harder to play with, but if you are going to detune your guitar, then you should get some thicker strings. In Standard you could get lighter strings, but i wouldn't go too light, or it willl sound like shit. I just like the feel of thicker strings, I mostly play in standard but occasionally I'll drop it. Also I get really paranoid about messing around with the thin E string. I'm afraid it'll snap right in the middle of a solo, crack me once in the eye and blind me, etc. I just like the feel of thicker strings, I mostly play in standard but occasionally I'll drop it. Dude, I got Elixir heavy acoustic strings on my Fender FA-100. The guitar was only $100; but, it sounds like it's $200. Too bad that it doesn't have a pickup.
