Well, what was it that made you choose it over all other guitars? Was it the feel, a favourite guitarist that used them, simply the sound or was it something else?
For me, the feel of it is the most natural of any guitar I've played, it just seems more natural for me to play than an SG, Strat, Tele, PRS...basically, the lot! Also, EC and Peter Green's use of them during the blues-rock boom of the 60's made them THE guitar as far as I'm concerned...and my dad always blabbed about the mythical Gibson Les paul, it was a name I was familiar with from a very early age...kind of meant to be I guess

I am now a proud owner of an epiphone LP Junior for me it was the feel. And the fact i did not have enough for the other style i like (PRS). I tried out 9 other guitars before settling for the Junior it just felt so nice in my hands.
I do not base my guitar choices on my idols ( Kirk Hammett etc.), i did also like the feel of the Heavy X by Stagg but i settled for the Junior as it's better made etc. |

Just about every reason. First and foremost Jimmy Page used one and second I noticed a lot of people had strats but I wouldn't see as many LP's. Suppose that was it I was quite a noob in guitars when I bought that. However now I like it even more for the playability and sound.... |

For me it was a few things, I grew up with a family of musicians, my moms side
was the piono teaching side, and my dad was with guitars.
My dad acctually loves fender a lot more (strats) but showed me the first les paul
ive ever seen (im meen not in a show or sumthing) at his friends house.
That was a little after I started playing and was dooling over its beauty for about half a year before I realized that my idol at the time (Billie Joe , from Green Day) had one too and for a few months I really wanted a Lp Junior.
After I got over it my dad bought me my Lp Studio for my 14th bday,
And I fel in love with the tone imidiatly.
I have to say that I liked the fact that it was heavy unlike cheap strat copys in stores. |

For me it was the look and the sound having about a hundred strat copies all sounding like crap. My first LP was some jap copy and I fell in love!! The body style the weight the sound. My first real LP was a epi LP custom jet black that I changed the pick gaurd and tuxedod it out. And after much saving I bought a Gibson LP Standard in 1997 the heritage cherry sunburst finish. Still have it still love still play it everyday |

For the sound....can't beat that thick Les Paul sound...there are imitators which can produce a nice Les Paul sound, such as my PRS, but it just can't beat the Les Paul's tone. The playability on the PRS is much nicer though...only downside...but I own them both so no worries.
Also beccause they look amazing from top to bottom. |

I choose the Les Paul because of it's powerful "fat" tone and it's beautiful mahogany body that gives it heavenly sustain. I also choose it because of the fact that Jimmy Page and Clapton used it. The looks of the guitar are also growing on me. |

Probably not....the Les Paul is much more composed of Mahogany...thicker...heavier...
The SG is very thin...
You realize a lot of a guitar's sound comes from the construction of the body? Les Pauls sound thicker than SG's mainly because they are... |

Well, My LP is not my main guitar. Probably never will be, but I lvoe it for what it is. I bought a Deluxe because they were cheaper than a standard but with all the same build features. I wanted something a little more jangly/vintage sounding so I figured my options were P-90s (something like an R6) or minis (deluxe). I've got it dialed in to give me a good biting rock/metal sound and when I want to really make it ring, I can flip to the bridge pup.
Now, other guitars could have probably delivered a soudn that was in the same ballpark, but they didn't have the right combination of sound, feel, looks and general mojo Oh and I forgot the biggest thing, two words: SUS-TAIN.
I'm mainly explorers but when the fancy strikes me, I'm definitely happy with my purchase. Nothing says old school calss like a black beauty or a goldtop. |

I just love them- mainly for the feel and tone. They nice and heavy and the baseball bat 50's neck is nice and chunky. The sustain is fantastic.
Friends over the years have had them, from antorias to epiphones, and i've tried gibsons in shops many a time - years ago when i could play properly but had zero money.
I've started to play again and had my first les paul for a week now, and I'm loving it, can't put it down I've only ever had strats before. |

Combination of the craftsmanship (friend of mine has a nice one), tone, feel and that it's iconic. Alogn with the Strat, it's defined the sound of popular music for generations. I figured I'd see what kind of soudn I could get out of the instrument that launched rock and roll and do it with the original basic guitar instead of some digital or cheaply made interpretation of what someone thought the original was so I could see what kind of sound came out with my own playing. |

First, I was looking at Strats, but decided to check out the Gibson's (for my Birthday). At first, I was going for an SG, but decided upon the Les Paul instead (ordered it through Musician's Friend- yeah I know you won't be able to "feel" the guitar first.). Also, Jimmy Page is one of my idols (music-wise). But it turns out, I love the feel of the neck, the slab of wood (no contoured fancy-schmancy crap), the way it hangs when you play it standing up.... I LOVE the rhythm pickup when you use it for leads.. ooh!... and the feedback, it's the beast... I'd rather have a "sensitive" guitar than a "rhino-skinned" guitar cuz there's always feedback when you need it... and a skilled guitarist SHOULD know how to tame the beast (feedback is the beast's wails), but also know when to set it free...

Actually, it was called the log and it wasn't the les paul model your'e all familiar with today. It was a solid guitar made out of a 4x4" piece of solid timber with hollowbody wings stuck on the sides that he made after hours in the epiphone factory. |

I think very few of the bands I listen to actually use Les Pauls. I don't know what it is but the two that I've bought just drew me in when I saw them. I like the design and wood grain and sunburst on my Standard is just awesome. Of course I love how they feel and play too. |
