hi, playing for some time now, now i nid help

XwyhyX

uhm Hi, im been playing bass for about approximately 7 months now, and yeah
i can play stuffs (couple of metallica's and slapping RHCP and others), but now i dont know what to do to improve my skills and to make my own riffs and stuffs, i dont really know how to incorporate the scales in making riffs(im not really familiar with the scales, only know E major, using only the first 5 frets)

so what should i do? study scales? if so how to study them, and how to use the scales as a part of making melodies to a song,

any advice will be greatful ^^

Learn theory in general. Scales are mearly a part of them that can be practically applied. Understanding helps application.

Also, work on speed and deterity exercises.

I used to be in that position, but I found the studying of scales helped me out.

If you have Guitar Pro 5, I suggest it to anyone who plays bass or guitar. It gives you all the positions for scales, and it tells you exactly what you can play within a key.

Just the other day I looked into Phrygian Mode and Phrygian Major, and I'm making riffs no problem just from using Guitar Pro.
