Tuning On Heavy Gauge Strings

GabRielslaSh

I Cant Think Of Any Place better Than Here To Ask This Question ..

I Have A 4 String Bass .. The Gauges Are .65 85 105 135 .. [Warwick Black Label Set] .. I Tune Always To C Sharp [C#F#BE] or C Standard [CFA#D#] .. And I Dont Have Any Problems ..

But one Day I wanted to Cover A song Tuned To D Standard [DGCF] .. And I noticed There Was A Lot Of Tension On The Neck .. So I Didnt Want To Tune It .. And I Dont Know if It is The String Because They Are New .. or is Juz Not Possible To Tune It To D With That Gauge ..

So ..

What is The Highest Tuning U Can Go With A Heavy Gauge ? ..

dude, do NOT tune it up like that with that heavy of strings. you'll warp your neck. heavy gauges are made for really low tunings, if you wanna go higher get lighter strings.

a standard four string set will do nicely
