"Paranoid", "Ironman" and "Breaking the Law" were the first songs I learned to play, super easy. After that I worked on 'Show No Mercy' (album). Death's 'Scream Bloody Gore' is another good one.
Anyway that's what I worked on when I first began. Hope it helps.

The first Rage Against The Machine album is pretty easy to learn-- excepting the solo's and crazy effects, of course.
And most of the first songs I learned were from Megadeth's Countdown To Extinction and Youthanasia.
If you can work your way back to Rust In Peace then you know you're getting better :p

I started on easy stuff, then learn to 'chug' and such. Metalcore songs (although I dislike them) are good for that, try 'Like Light to the Flies' by Trivium. Once you've mastered that, you can play most generic extreme metal songs.

walk by pantera. easy riffs, except for the solo, which isnt really that bad. if you can nail "floods" (solo), with the pinch harmonics, you know that you are getting good. maybe hangar 18, or even "unholy confessions" (avenged sevenfold)

Inside the fire by Disturbed the song is simple fun and a bad ass easy solo
Unholy Confessions by A7X (Avenged Sevenfold)only hard part is the bridge to the chorus
Coming Undone by Korn good song awesome lyrics only thing thats hard is the rhythm of the verse
Any System of a Down song
Sound of Madness by Shinedown My favorite song
Youre going down by Sick Puppies
Hysteria and Uprising by Muse
Cowboys from Hell by Pantera solo's a little tricky but its fun to play
Any Black Sabbath
Any Green Day ( I know they arent metal but thier songs are really easy)
Any 3DG (3 Days Grace)
Jars and Letters from a Thief by Chevelle
Remedy or Fake it by Seether
Ladies and Gentlemen by Saliva
and Laid to Rest by Lamb of God Hope this helped keep on rockin

Slipknot - (sic) it's easy and it'll help you master your palm-muting, + if you play it slower, you're playing their self-titled song of their early ep... Duality is a good one too..
I started with the Toxicity album of System of a Down, that shit's easy, Disturbed - Down With the Sickness, Fuck it by Seether, any Murderdolls songs, the Metallica Black Album is easy too, without the solos...

God of Thunder by Kiss was pretty easy for me to learn. Another good one to learn would be an early Sabbath song, like Electric Funeral or Children of the Grave

try,''trough the fire and flames'' from Dragonforce" people say that, that song is hard but is not. It took me 12 straight hours to master it. and I been playing just for two years. so anyone that has been playing for more time will totally nail it

First song i played while learning to play guitar is through the fire and the flames, eventhough I've completely forgot about it now....but it's pretty hard though. then i tried to play cannon rock...kheheh...it's a bit easy, 'cause i liked the classical version.

Mötley Crüe songs are always pretty easy. Girls, Girls, Girls is one of my favorites and it sounds great but isn't so hard. Runnin' with the Devil by Van Halen is easy. It's one of the first songs that I learned to play.

Kaxerik wrote on Mar 13th, 2012 4:32pm

My first two songs were crazy train and enter sandman. I kept playing them until i could do every nuance, lick, and solo as written. I think that its good that you try to play some slash, even sweet child o' mine. Try to play Cliffs of Dover by Eric Johnson, even if it isn't metal...

quote

DamnBastard1224 wrote on May 4th, 2012 2:09pm

When I fist started to play metal...I learned just about every Metallica riff there is. Then I learned Sabbath songs like Paranoid, Iron Man, Children of the Grave, NIB, Heaven and Hell, and then moved to Old school Megadeth songs like The Conjuring or Rattlehead to get my speed down. Now I play my own music along the lines of what I've learned from my favorite bands. Simple enough.
