would you remain underground or 'sellout'?
i'd remain underground, even if i got offered 2000000000000000 bucks to make a video and put it on mtv

Mainstream, but I wouldn't sell out my beliefs to achieve it, but if the oppertunity arrived, I's take it. |

i highly doubt that. I'd wanan stay the truest of tr00 metalheads but if I got offered upwards of 1million then I'd quite happily go mainstream for one or two albums.
It pays bills lol |

damn. someone's die-hard for remaining underground. Trust me, once you have a wife, kids, house, and all the expenses that come with it, being a starving artist for the sake of art is inhuman.
Now finding a way to successfully present your art to mass media without tarnishing your vision is what is the real goal of artists.
So to rephrase your question, would I remain underground, or find a way to make money without a record exec telling me what to do... i'd chose the latter. you go have fun staying underground when you're 40. i'm sure selling crack and prostitution can help with the rent (that is if music was the only profession you knew). |

hmmm, there's nothing wrong with making money, and if youre still playing the sort of thing you play, and still in control of how your band sounds, who cares whether youre commercially accessible |

Metallica did it with Black album... although they went a little TOO overboard with selling out to the mainstream.
And if I became Lars Ulrich minus the bit about being a crap danish drummer, I think I'd kill myself. |

The Thrash scene now is horrid! Ugh, past few years I've seen kids just do it cause everyone on MySpace was doing it. Fueled By Fire, Merciless Death etc... (fueled by fashion)(merciless merchandise). All these bands sound the same now. Thrash is Dead! But I still dig thrash haha, oldschool. But mainstreem or selling out. I'd have a hard time doing whatever a record producer thinks is best for my career. I'm not changing my sound. mid-streem? not MAINstreem. =] |

Well if some dude said "Ill give you 1,000,000 bucks to keep doing exactly what you're doin'" of course I'd take the money, but if he wanted to change something, id tell him to go fuck himself. |
