Sweep Picking

Exalteth

Getting tired of it really. Quite of few underground shredders(localy) are getting carried away with these sweeps man. Don't get me wrong, sweeps are kick ass, but used everywhere in a song; boring! Besides speed isn't everything. (Speed Can Be Deceiving )

Well, what do you all think?

well sweeps arent the only way to play fast... when guys are doing nothing but sweeps its retarded, sweeping is just another technique really... mix it up and you'll stay fresh well sweeps arent the only way to play fast... when guys are doing nothing but sweeps its retarded, sweeping is just another technique really... mix it up and you'll stay fresh

i agree. sweeps are a great way to play fast but structure is more important than speed (dragon force for example). if you can combine speed with structure it gives the speed a purpose more than just show. Yngwie Malmsteen is one of my favorite guitarists because he uses some same forms used in classical music sped up on guitar. i agree. sweeps are a great way to play fast but structure is more important than speed (dragon force for example). if you can combine speed with structure it gives the speed a purpose more than just show.
