You dont necesarily have to take over a certain section

You can always add suggest and discuss anything that you have knowledge about

damn, this quited down quite a bit. where'd everyone go? anyway, i'd be willing to do something, but i don't think that i have quite the experience that alot of people here seem to have with metal histories and stuff. i'd be best at early death and grind...but those are both covered.

dio_dude I can't do the thrash revival because I don't believe it exists (lol) and I don't listen to the bands that are called the thrash revival. You can do that if you want. You can do thrash too if you want, as I'm already doing most death metal and will probably end up doing power metal, speed metal and black metal.

Ass Goblin, tell me what cores you want and you may have them. I'm very low on free time right now.

dio_dude wrote on Apr 25th, 2008 6:12am

and sorry for being a pushy prick, i just love thrash.

quote

dio_dude wrote on Apr 25th, 2008 6:10am

just make sure you include a piece on the revival of thrash through bands like evile and gama bomb and such.

quote

dio_dude wrote on Apr 25th, 2008 6:09am

yeah i'll leave it up to you then.

dio_dude: there's no need for a list of bands. just 5 or so examples of each

for example, for first wave death i'm using:
Possessed - Seven Churches
Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Insanity - Rehearsal 85
Necrovore - Divus De Mortuus
Death Strike - Fuckin' Death

as long as you can adequately describe how thrash metal 'came about', and make sure to relate it back to the genres coming before it (ie, Power Metal, Speed Metal, NWOBHM). i might make a bit of a contribution to thrash too, cos im pretty well-versed in it.

Ass_Goblin wrote on Apr 25th, 2008 12:57am

aye, sorry internal chaos, i didnt see you were in charge of the cores. i'd just like to make contributions and help out. i wasnt meaning to be in charge of anything. im not the leader type. more of a supporting type.

Hey, my name is Ken and i think that i know a fair bit about metalcore-esque bands such as killswitch engage, trivium, machine head and the like. i also vary from them to bands like gojira, as blood runs black, job for a cowboy, or behemoth. ive gained a recent fondness towards progressive types of music, and as expected ive become interested in bands like Dream Theater and Meshuggah as well. I'd be willing to help out as much as i can. I just found out about this group and i was very eager to get started.

dio_dude wrote on Apr 24th, 2008 3:34pm

and yes, i know of onslaught, sabbat, overkill, sadus, testament, exodus, death angel, vio-lence rather than just the big four. i'm also well into the NWOTM. so may i, with your permission of course I_C start compiling a list of thrash bands to put into a thread?

quote

dio_dude wrote on Apr 24th, 2008 1:10pm

there are shitloads of bands to cover across a whole heap of genres dudes, that's gonna take ages. can i be in charge of thrash, seeing as i own over 70 thrash metal cds? bought cd's i mean.

The main post will be edited to say who is doing what.

MHDrunk wrote on Apr 23rd, 2008 6:51am

@I, Voyager: i'll post a thread saying which genres have been assigned (and to whom) and then anyone that wants to help out can look at what genres have not been assigned. also, if you feel you have a good deal of knowledge about a certain genre, there is no rule against more than one person working on a genre :p

I,Voyager wrote on Apr 23rd, 2008 6:05am

I can help somehow but I don't really know what that would be, PM me if you need something done

quote

The Evil Hat wrote on Apr 23rd, 2008 4:00am

i don't know enough to do the whole genre, i just know some from a book or two and just general knowledge. also, an unrelated question, why is my avatar gone here?

Slam shouldn't be too hard, as it's old school stuff, right?

Like, it came out with the wave first/second wave, didn't it?
And I take it you're doing all the Florida bands?
Slam didnt start when old school death did, it's a variant of Brutal Death. unless, you're counting bands like Obituary and Six Feet Under, something that i've seen many people do, but have never understood.

Fair enough then

That be why I'm not doing death metal.
