honestly, i use a Rocktron Rectified Zombie Distortion stompbox. for things like seek and destroy i use it as well. you should lower your gain, mid your volume and up your symetry.

I use the stock distortions (hi gain, modern, vintage) of my Peavey Bandit...
Hi Gain is great for most Metallica things... especially Jump In The Fire. ;)
Seek and Destroy would be in between Hi Gain and Modern, which isn't possible... so I use hi gain. ;)
