That's all well and good, but it makes it terribly hard for new bands to get out there. if there is no market for CD sales, than Record labels aren't going to sign a band on, no matter how good they are. They can't start a band out by making them tour, or releasing clothes to test the waters, because nobody would have heard of them.
I, personally, download music to check bands out and if I like what I hear, I will buy some of their albums. That being said, there is almost no market for the type of music I listen to around here so finding CDs is a daunting task most of the time.

Same here. It's Nigh Impossible to find good metal around here.
But, I always do my best. I've bought a few CD's that I'm able to find, but since I listen to stuff that was obscure 20 YEARS ago it's extremely hard to find.
