So...supposing we had a time machine (a good one that wouldn't turn us into a hideous fly-mutant. Or Jeff Goldblum...), which year would we go back to, and what to do? I'm kicking off with 1980, preferably London. Why? To see Eddie Clarke era Motorhead, Bon Scott era AC/DC, a youthful Iron Maiden, and hopefully track down Mark King. Just to be the first to point and laugh at his sartorial blunders while quietly trying to memorise his chops...

NYC 1976, lower east side. When you could actually see bands like Talking Heads, Suicide, Television, the Ramones, Blondie, Richard Hell and the original Patti Smith Group at holes in the walls like the Mercer Arts Center and CBGBs. I caught the tail end of that era, but gawd, it would have been great to be in the thick of things right from the start!
