JJ's ecc83 for all three, they are the best low noise pre amp tubes available. I tried ecc803's, and the tone was a little larger than the ec83's, but the tube rattle was just too high when I juice up the amp. el84 JJ's also make a world of difference compared to the stock tubes. Hey Everybody!! Please remove all of your stock tubes from these amps! They are complete trash. The sooner you do so your crate will thank you with a more dynamic sound and better off in tone as well. Also if any of you are able to work on your own amps or have a tech friend. have them put a choke in there (the amp only comes stock with a resistor across your power tube stage. only about a $30 fix that will correct some of the mud. These amps are actually better off the assembly line than a current AC30 Vox. This amp is still one hell of a deal for the sound. I play alot of math rock that involves really heavy rock riffs to clean mellow jams and this amp really runs the spectrum well.
JJ's ecc83 for all three, they are the best low noise pre amp tubes available. Tungsol 12AX7 for the preamp
JJ EL84 for the power amp
I got these tubes as recommended in the tube thread, and i like them a lot. Made the sound heavier and more articulate with gain. yay
