How should i study picking?

fourxhackd

how exactly should i practice picking? do i keep it stationary on the guitar or do i pick with the hand not touching the guitar? what can you advise? please help, i really want to get better.

I am most comfortable elbow picking (picking without letting the hands touch the guitar) because i feel not restricted and free.

i'm currently studying canon rock (40%) and fcp remix (80%) but speedwise and cleanliness, not so good.

I don't think it matters. Let's just say that touching the guitar while picking gives you more accuracy (because your arms are steadier), but tires your finger alot (especially the pinky).

But I almost always play with my hands ON the guitar...and I sound okay.
