We've probably seen each other around the forums, but I thought it might be nice to introduce yourself to the group anyway.
The first time I encountered post-rock was when Explosions in the Sky performed "Welcome, Ghosts" on Conan. I was completely blown away, and I've been into the music ever since. Since then I've also gotten into God is an Astronaut, Mogwai and Mono quite a bit, and am always looking for more groups to check out. Right now This Will Destoy You is quite looking promising.

This Will Destroy you is my all time favorite Post-rock band. They're pretty small popularity wise, which is astonishing to me. Where'd you hear of them?
We should make this Post-Rock Anonymous!

I heard about 'em while discussing post-rock on another board that I occasionally visit. Somebody said they were a lot like Explosions, so I decided to check 'em out. I've only heard what's on their MySpace, but they've peaked my interest. |

Hello..........got into this scene mostly through the Album Leaf and Sigur Ros.......but now seem to listen more towards the Godspeed, Silver Zion end of the spectrum.
Are we including drone and ambient stuff as post-rock......i'm not sure where we draw the line on this genre................ |

Hello, I got into Post Rock by first hearing 65daysofstatic on the radio a few years ago. I remembered the song being really good but put off buying their album for a few years. Then I bought One Time For All Time and now I love Post Rock. |

Hello, I got into Post - Rock by starting an Instrumental band. I tried to find other Instrrumental bands and the first ( and my most favourite ) Post Rock band turned up, Mogwai. Since then I have found others I like which include, Mono, Explosions In The Sky. God Is An Astronaut and This Will Destroy You. |

Hello all.
I first got into post-rock a weird way actually. I really love screamo type stuff, so I started finding screamo with lots of instrumental sections. Ie. City of Caterpillar, Van Johnson, A Day In Black And White. and then i grew fonder of these bands and then just found other bands with similar sounds, but more instrumental such as 65dos and godspeed you! black emperor. and now im a huge fan lol. |

Hello, everyone my name is Dale, and i have been listening to post rock music for about a year now, I first got into it by starting a band which had a singer in it, but it was too hard to find a good one for the music we wanted to play. Then we decided lets try it without no singer and started to find out about other Instrumental bands. Now I listen to loads of it and its now my favourite genre of music. |
