The first time I saw roger waters was for "The pros and cons" tour in the early 80s.
I remember Roger playing "Set the controls for the heart of the sun" on a green bass,
"not on an acoustic guitar" with 3 big square video screens "Not one round one" and it was very powerful. Maybe to this day one of the most powerful intense disturbing times in live music that I have ever seen! "Beyond brilliant"!.....
Ive never seen him play it like that again and cant find it recorded.
When they played "The gunners dream" I thought I had died an went to heaven!
The Radio Kaos tour was Awesome too!......as was his other tours 06/07 and dark side of the moon. They didnt do a west coast "amused to death"...
Anyway, trying to bring some life back into this thread.

zman, do you like The Final Cut?? Do you consider it to be a "solo" album, performed by Pink Floyd. I love the title track.

Here is Roger's set list for 2006-07. For that show at the gorge, winds were too strong for the crew to erect the big screen used for visuals, so Rog arranged for the tour jet to buzz the stadium to start the show!!

In the Flesh
Mother
Set the Controls For the Heart Of the Sun
Shine On You Crazy Diamond (1-5)
Have A Cigar
Wish You Were Here
Southhampton Dock
The Fletcher Memorial Home
Perfect Sense Parts 1 and 2
Leaving Beirut
Sheep
(15 minute break)
DARK SIDE OF THE MOON:
Encores
The Happiest Days of Our Lives
Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2
Vera
Bring The Boys Back Home
Comfortably Numb

I saw that show last June. Best concert I have EVER been to. I feel sorry for those who didn't see it :p

Well, I would have to say the man was an integral part of Floyd for sure. It wouldnt have existed w/o his idealism. His solo stuff (& final cut) are hard for me to digest. Its interesting music, but I dont think I quite understand it. His concepts left unchecked may be a little too overbearing for me. Personally I think his talents are best suited with musicians of profound instrumental creativity (gilmour, wright)

That said I would still go see one of his shows (if he ever comes around here again)
Oh yeah, a friend of mine saw him live at the gorge ampitheatre in washington state in 1999-00? (in the flesh?) He said it was amazing. Roger had arranged for two jets to fly overhead at the precise moment of "climax" during one of his songs. My friend said the impeccable timing and effect it gave left him speechless. Roger seems to have a obsession w/ aircraft sounds in his music lol.
