Gibson is making some of the best guitars they ever have. The Historic series is great and this is coming from someone who owns several 1950s/60s Gibson guitars.

They also are making more affordable American made instruments (Studio, Faded, Melody Maker, Tribute, etc...) at all price points.

They are not overpriced, it's just many people can't afford them. Kudos to Henry J. for keeping Gibson an American brand name and making affordable options for people.

I do hate what's happening to Gibson, but I'm not going to sign a petition that calls the CEO an idiot.

No, this guy isn't to blame. Gibson makes guitars for every buyer--if you like the old way of doing things, buy a re-issue, or a les paul traditional, don't waste your breath complaining about the new. Gibson is a top end company--if you don't think paying 2000+ for a guitar is worth it, don't bother--fenders are pretty good too you know. The reason those prices are so high is because of two primary reasons--1, Gibson targets the high-end buyers who are willing to pay that kind of money for that little bit extra on sound quality and design, and 2, Gibson is entirely operated out of the U.S. which is something the feds seem to have beef with. Gibson doesn't need to be saved from Henry Juszkiewicz, it needs to be saved from the feds, who felt they had the right to raid Gibson's factories TWICE in two years without a warrant to confiscate wood Gibson possessed legally. The feds are trying to KILL Gibson, and Henry has been trying to stand up to them!

I support Henry Juszkiewicz. Gibson needs saving from

Now, I dislike playing Gibson guitars. They don't feel right to me. However, they have made most of the music I grew up listening to. I can't just sit here and let such a legacy go to waste by the hand of one moronic CEO.

Being emotionally attached to a guitar company is kinda creepy guys. Vote with your wallet and leave it at that. There are plenty of great guitar companies, no need to save this one. It's not like the history books will forget their contributions.

I may not be buying a Gibson guitar anytime soon and I've never played or owned a Gibson. But a lot of good companies died this way when they have a clueless person at the steering wheel.

We are not an anti-Gibson group, most of us actually like gibson but think it's sad that such an iconic and important manufacturer is going down because for high prices that aren't correct for their build quality.
Are you happy to pay so much for a gibson when you can get the same quality for almost half the price when you choose a lesser known brand , just because the Gibson has Gibson written on the headstock?

1.He saved Gibson by raising the prices, no problem there . The problem is that times change and he still is raising the prices while at the same time the build quality remains the same or gets worse.

2.Gibson was know for good quality guitars, the company was going down because they sold them too cheaply , so he raised the prices .The problem is that he raised them so much and at the same time lowered the build quality and just abused the trust people have in the Gibson brand. He did a good job by saving the company back then but now someone else needs to save it again .

Hey awesome, what a great group promoting nothing but slanderous propaganda for the typical anti-Gibson forum that is Ultimate-Guitar.

1) Where are these price doubles? When did they happen? Oh wait, they happened back in the '80s, before most of you were even born. LOL at he "just" announced he was going to double prices. The Cold War "just" ended too, I guess.

2) Anyone care to expand on what Gibson was like before their current CEO took over? Criticize his business practices all you want and fail to recognize that they saved Gibson from complete collapse. So much for "saving" Gibson.

The funny thing is, I have yet to play the mythical bad Gibson. To be fair I haven't played many, but all the ones I've seen around here have been absolutely top-notch.

Oh NO! D: not Gibson!
I don't own one, but this corporation helped start it all. Without Gibson to rival Fender, what else is there?

Add me so we can share our hatred!!!

you mean "add me so it seems like i have more friends!".... ah ok ill add ya :P

CrimsonBizzare wrote on May 6th, 2010 6:09pm

OK, seriously. Why is there a 'number of guitars you own' column in the petition?

It's stupid to think Gibson is failing because of this man. Try reading more than one article.

335th member. Whhooooooo. thats funny cos i got a dot (epi 335) for my b-day this year.
Quick! Save Gibson before it sinks cos then fender will be like the king of guitars without gibson rivalling it!

Aidos wrote on Dec 23rd, 2009 3:08pm

Its good to see someone decideing to do something. Over here in Aus a Gibson LP Standard is like 4.5 - 5 grand (but import taxes and GST (goods and services tax do their damage, but even so). I'm just gonna leave this here and what you do with it is up to you. (not sure if its legit but there ya go.)

Vlasco wrote on Nov 15th, 2009 9:56am

I get what you guys mean... but a lot of the stuff you´re after is misinformed. Especially the part about doubling prices in the petition - that happened a long time ago when Gibson was on the verge of collapse in the 80´s.

Jyuuga wrote on Nov 4th, 2009 3:11pm

I sent a rant mail to gibson guitar, directed more at the ceo. I don't think it was smart of me to do that but when I was done typing I felt good.

jthm_guitarist wrote on Nov 1st, 2009 10:00am

Right on you guys! When I first saw the title of this group I thought it was some 'I love corporations' deal.

But no! You guys are right on! Don't buy into their bag crappy name! Recognize that, while once Gibson made some sweet guitars, this in no way guarantees that they still do!

Sounds like Gibson will double the price, drum up some stupid new models, fix the ratios in stores, advertise in video games... the only thing they are against is quality control!
