* Sometime around 1976, David Schecter designed a pickup with the same dimensions as Fender pickups that could allow humbucking and near single-coil tones. For example, some Schecter guitars are fitted with two humbuckers, but instead of having a normal three-way pickup selector, a five-way pickup selector is installed, which allows you to select a humbucker or coil tap it to recreate single coil tones.
