People always rave on about about how good he is... Funny how when you question a Slash fan, who thinks he is the greatest player on earth, as about who Yngwie Malmsteen is, they haven't got a clue.

I think that Slash while one of the greatest guitar players ever, is extremely overrated. I think the reason why is remembered so well, is because he had so many memorable songs. He's like Steve Jones. Not a great player, or even a very good player, but he could write great songs, and that was enough to send him over edge to stardom. I respect Slash and what he does, but I don't think He's a great player. That said, GNR was only good with Slash. Flame me all you want, but it's now become Axl Rose................... Oh and a Bunch of Other Dudes.

Bucket head is ok listen to him playing guns stuff on YouTube the riffs sound good but his solos are lackluster and lack emotion slash's solos where great and matched the songs perfectly bucket head sounds just like every other douch out there that thinks playing fast is everything Can anyone say David Gilmoure one of the greatest guitar soloist ever and you can whistle everyone of his solos because fast is for hotdog fags not real musicians ok now I'm done

Slash is god ...to me anyway, i remember watching all the early guns video beggin my dad for a guitar not leaving my room for any reason just trying to learn the appetite album I got to say he may not be for everybody but to me he is great and always will be my fav didn't care much for the snake pit stuff but his new solo album is by far the best rock music has seen in a long time my friends I would really like to hear some of u guys play where can I find your albums

Nothing pisses me off more in Rock N' Roll than Slash. The guy has risen to God status and I cannot figure out why he of all people deserved such a thing. He's such a conceited asshole too. I could name 25 guitarists off the top of my head right now that deserve the spot more than he does. Also, he isn't even a smoker... What a "fag." <<<See what I did there?

Getting really tired off people worshipping his solo album, which wasn't bad, but not that great either. On a scale from 1 to 10I'd give it a solid 6.5.
Honestly who wants Fergie on a Rock-album????

Nice to see a group that shares my opinion (just about). I like gnr's music, and I just started listening to Slash's new album and it's pretty good. Contrary to this, I do still believe he is massively over-rated. There are some guitarists that really 'grab' you and some that don't, and Slash is somebody that really doesn't touch me with his playing - there's nothing original about it.

I'm getting really tired of this guy's face on the front of UG.

Eh, I am tired of hearing this crap (don't ask me "why you posting then"), this is why. I hate being placed into the stereotype of GNR fans that worship slash and want to be him. For me, he simply inspired me to play guitar and he sounds good, so I listen to him. I listen to what sounds good, nothing more. I would agree that the new GNR is kicking but too (they sound great live) but I am tired of the stereotypes (especially in the Pit, but I expect that)

Personal opinion over.

You are tired of the stereotype... but you have to admit most Slash fans do fall in that category?

He stole the top hat & hair thing from Marc Bolan. He stole the cigarette thing from Keith Richard. The riffs are mediocre Page facsimiles. His ethnicity contributes greatly to his omnipresent token "guitar god" celebrity invitations. I'm sick to death of the guy and find him another example of the continued decline of western culture. I could outplay this goofball, as I'm sure most of you ax-slingers gigging this weekend could also.

well i dont know about eric clapton

Cmon now...Eric Clapton is a superb musician, especially paired up with two other fine musicians (those being Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker). You cant say Cream wasnt a very well done band, sure, you may not like them, but when you get into the music of it all, they were VERY excellent. Plus Clapton developed his own style, whereas, to me, lots of people nowadays copy other guitarists and dont bother learning their own techniques and making up new stuff. Clapton is one of the guys that really started the rise of the guitar, along with Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Jeff Beck. He's highly influenced all the music around us, and Im tired of people downing Eric Clapton. He may not be the single greatest or fastest guitarist, but he sure as hell can play, especially in his Cream days. Remember, blues is an entirely different style than rock and roll, though they share A LOT of similarities, but each differentiates in its own

Slash is a prime example of how looks and fame conjure up false images of a TRUE guitar "hero". Personally, I was appalled when I did a "survey" of how many people thought Slash was a guitar god...I bet around 3/4 of the people I asked thought he was "Awesome!", "A living legend", and "Godly". However...as many of the people in this group know...That is not true. He has some talent, but he is average compared to many other guitarist that are so much more brilliant and entertaining than he is. Examples of such would be, Jose Feliciano, Jimmy Page, Davey Graham, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and so forth. Plus...to me he is just another example of a Jimmy Page copycat, I mean come on...His rifts and what not are just Jimmy's with some sparkles on it, though he is no where as good as Page was.

[quote\]You're all thinking that his playing has "rhythm and soul" but to me it doesn't particularly. Compared with his replacement Buckethead - to me Buckethead has much more emotion in his playing (listen to Nottingham Lace) and he would clean Slash up in a shred-off anyday![/qoute]

i love this thread.
slash=overrated guitarist that fan boys adore and rant about
