Schools and Average Salaries?

Hey, I'm looking to enroll in a Audio Engineer Certification program once I get out of the army in about a year. It's going to be a tough transition leaving the army as far as supporting my family and I'd like to know if anyone can give me an idea of what they started out making.

Also, I have a couple choices. The army will pay for Mediatech which is a 20,000 dollar, 1year certification program with a job placement program.

The Recording Connection is a six month, 8000 dollar certification program but you're placed in a studio as an apprentice and learn from an actual engineer. They also don't mind letting you attend on nights or weekends so you can also have a full time job.

The latter is obviously more suited to my situation but I don't want to attend this program if it won't get me a job once I'm done. My goal is to work in a studio as an engineer until I retire so if the Mediatech program is more likely to land me a job and start my career off right, I'll make plans to attend there somehow but if the Recording Connection is just as likely to get me in the door than I'll go with them. Cost is no issue, I have 75,000 bucks in the army college fund.

Any ideas from anyone?

if you manage to get a job, the pay at first wont be very good. you wont be able to go straight onto working behind a desk as soon as you leave. at least i dont imagine you would anyway. if you manage to get a job, the pay at first wont be very good. you wont be able to go straight onto working behind a desk as soon as you leave. at least i dont imagine you would anyway.
