On February 2, 2009, Darin Keim announced Staple is reuniting.
On May 18, Darin announced a new song called "Eager Hearts" will be uploaded to Staple's Myspace page on May 23. He also said a full blog will be coming soon explaining the current line-up, plans for the future, and new music. On the official Staple myspace page they released a blog about the new song "Eager Hearts" and saying there would be an EP called "The Gatekeeper EP", also in the blog Darin said at 12:01 AM on Saturday, May 30 there would be the second song from the new EP posted called "Perfect Dark". The final song from The Gatekeeper EP, "The Giant Sleeps No More" was released on the band's myspace page at 12:01 on June 6, 2009. The Gatekeeper is currently available at Staple shows for $5, or directly from the bands Myspace page for $5 + $2 (S+H).
