What is it?

Phrygian

Hi Strat fans. New to the forum.

I recently bought a new Strat (MIM) and I've been trying to figure out exactly what model it is. What I do know about it:
2 Knobs
Plug on side of body
s/n MZ5.....
"Special Edition" sticker on back of headstock
NOT a Squire
Rosewood fingerboard
SSS configuration
Beautiful finish

Does anybody know what model this could be? Thanks.

Thanks. I guess it doesn't matter what model it is,since it is a Fender Stratocaster and that's what's important. That and how much I like t.

Adjusted the neck today. Really made a difference in the feel. There was some spring noise in the tremolo system, so we opened up the back and adjusted the yoke to tighten down the bridge. That got rid of the noise. Now I love this guitar even more.

I played a friend's American Strat this weekend. Though I do like maple necks, I am convinced that I'm a rosewood kinda guy. The maple just didn't feel right to me. I also went to the local guitar shop (same place I bought this axe) and tried out a few telecasters, strats and even a cheap PRS (I won't let myself get within 10 feet of the "good" PRS guitars until I win the lottery); nothing I played felt anywhere close to as good as this guitar feels. And I have yet to play a strat that sounds as good as this one does unplugged. The wood really resonates.

< ;DIV>I am thinking about upgrading the pickups but haven't decided what to go with. Any suggestions?

Thanks SRV59. I'm trying to get an SRV sound anyway. And I finally figured it out... this is a 2006 Standard Strat Flame Maple Top (FMT), Tobacco Sunburst. Thanks SRV59. OK, don't kick me out of this group for this... but, I went and bought a brand new American Standard Telecaster today. Damn this thing is sweet... natural finish, maple fretboard.

I still love my Strat, but I'll be honest: I'm going to have to force myself to pick it up instead of the Tele once in a while.

I think the p'ups are on hold for a bit now while I wait for the piggy bank to rejuvenate.
