Do you prefer SSS or HSS?

Robert I.

Obviously SSS is more popular, but personally I think HSS is a bit more versatile if you like blues/rock and hard rock stuff, like Tool, Audioslave, Led Zeppelin, Wolfmother, etc.

I tend to go for SSS. I just like the sound of a single in the bridge (on Strats at least). I tend to go for SSS. I just like the sound of a single in the bridge (on Strats at least).

I have both, but one is HSS with coil tap, so I get the best of both worlds.

I do prefer SSS for clean stuff though.

i have to go with HSS, cause it's so versatile. also humbuckers sound better w/ pedal distortion, but the singles coils own clean tone and overdrive i have to go with HSS, cause it's so versatile. also humbuckers sound better w/ pedal distortion, but the singles coils own clean tone and overdrive

HSS for sure. I use the bridge mainly and everything just sounds better through a bridge bucker.

So HSS FTW

HSS. I've got 2 of them. One has a Seymour Duncan JB and Duncan Antiquities in the neck and middle. My other one has a JB and Texas Specials. I've also got a Strat called a Big Apple. It has 2 humbuckers, a JB and a 59. HSS. I've got 2 of them. One has a Seymour Duncan JB and Duncan Antiquities in the neck and middle. My other one has a JB and Texas Specials.

I prefer SSS because of the style of guitar I play, but I can appreciate how an HSS strat would be good for other types of music. My Dad's strat is HSS and it does put out this really nice 'fat twang' (if that makes any sense) when switched all the way to the bridge setting. SSS -- that's the best thing about Strats (besides of course the neck). If I really wanted a heavier sound I'd get a Les Paul. SSS -- that's the best thing about Strats (besides of course the neck). If I really wanted a heavier sound I'd get a Les Paul.
