Added a heap of 'rare' Syd photos in the picture forum. Feel free to save them/whatever guys.

Ooh, thanks for the modship Adam! This group will help me to find out more about Barrett. I think I might buy one of his albums in a bit if I can find any in HMV.

I love hearing music god like- 50 years ago and thinking "what a fortune teller, what an amazing prodigy, not only in his life and era, but in today's era" that toally applies to Barret.

I think The Madcap Laughs is one of the most horrifyingly brilliant, ahead-of-its-time albums in the history of music. There are musical genres foreshadowed in there that came to the forefront of mainstream music as much as two decades later. That alone makes Syd an absolute genius. His work on Floyd's first album was pretty awesome too.

Well I like Syd, though I've not really heard much. I really like Octopus and Bob Dylan Blues.

I preffer Gilmour and Pink Floyd together, but I preffer Barrett's solo work over Gilmour's solo stuff. Make sense?

And you're already a mod, twat.

jagstang270 wrote on Aug 17th, 2007 1:53pm

people should try him out more often, I think it's a collective thing, I don't think anyone ever perfered Barret over Gilmour, do you?

and also, Adam, would you please make me a mod?

Yeah? Nice. That's cool. I love See Emily Play and Arnold Layne, great tracks...

I haven't listened to Syd's solo career, but his work with Pink Floyd is amazing.

Before I owned Piper at the Gates of Dawn and A Saucerful of Secrets (on which he only had some material), I owned Relics, which was a compilation of his work.

Honestly, I thought, "What the hell do these guys see in this goon?".

However, after listening to the aforementioned albums, I've fallen in love with his work. What a genius.
