Metal has been around longer than most of us that listen to it. Now-a-days many garbage bands taint the genre forcing the 'elite' fans to set guidelines as to how a band is portrayed for a first time listener.... commonly known as sub-genres.
One of the most promising sub-genres in the underground metal scene today is Technical/Brutal Death Metal. With bands such as Defeated Sanity and Necrophagist trying to out-due past recordings, Gorod and Spawn of Possession reaching out to the limitless possibilities, old-school juggernauts Cannibal Corpse redefining the sound they made so popular.... it's hard to imagine this sub-genre is going to fade away anytime soon. Hell, I highly doubt we've even seen the best from it yet.
