Favorite guitar that Teppei Teranishi uses?

devinbryndel

Teppei used a verity of guitars on every album. And I just wanted to see which album carried your favorite guitars!

Idenity Crisis - He used a Fender Prodigy (Which is today's Fender Squire Strat) He said it was his first guitar on the dvd (If We Could Only See Us Now). He said the Prodigy produces great distortion on this cd along with some killer cleans! (Too bad some Squire's today can't obtain either). He also is noted of using an Epiphone SG Classic. They don't make these anymore! This was before epiphone got into the LP age. They use to only make SG's.

Illusion Of Safety - TEPPEI GETS RICH...or somewhat? On this album Teppei was still using his Prodigy for clean tones only. Never for the distortion. He used his Gibson 70' Standard Les Paul. This thing sounds like a GEM! SOme of the best distortion I heard from Teppei ever! (here is the mordern version of his guitar http://www.gibson .com/en%2Dus/Divi sions/Gibson%20US A/Guitars/LesPaul /Standards/Standa rd/
If you go to the color's he has the Wine Red edition. He also has 2 DiMarzio DP100 Super Distortion Humbuckers installed in the Gibson (He said he bought it used so really it was a deal and a 1/2)

Artist in the Ambulance - Teppei goes to the world of SG's again. He used a Gibson SG Standard (Ebony) on all of the recording of Artist In The Ambluance. Weird thing is he played it live with his Gibson 70's Standard Les Paul? He was noted saying he didn't trust the SG in live conditions due to his weight and frailness (He must play hard?)

Vheissu - My far my favorite guitar album because he uses my favorite guitar! He used the Fender American Vintage Telecaster 62'. This is my dream guitar! This thing sounds so amazing through a Tube amp! You can tell by listening to this cd that the Fender bring new life to thrice! It brings a brighter and more bassy tone to the music as wel as more dimension into the tone world.

Fire and Water EP - So far from the website http://www.alchem yindex.com they are showing live videos in the studio of them recording the new album. Teppei says he is using all the guitars from the previous records (Yes even the Prodigy) but he is adding a new weapon to his arsinal. He is adding a Fender Baritone Special HH (http://www.music iansfriend.com/pr oduct/Fender-Bari tone-Special-HH?s ku=511325) He said this album is going to have some of the heaviest stuff they ever wrote along with some of the slowest. But this guitar will be responsible for the heavy parts *Because it's a Baritone...and you don't know what a baritone is...It's a guitar tat is a longer scale than other guitars. So it's able to be tuned down to like Drop B and till be playable)

I think the reason why Teppei is using this baritone now is because he is having troubles with his Gibson's on holding a DROP C tune. Which is what all thrice guitar is from Teppei (to my knowledge). It's hard to keep that good of a tune that low on a set neck! It starts to harp on the trust rods.

I'm finnaly alarmed! Don't be worried! haha I didn't think I was going to type this much! But when Teppei is my favorite guitarist and Thrice is my favorite band! You tend to study them! haha

(Teppei used a Crate amp on the recording of Idenity Crisis, he used marshalls the rest of the time untill Vheissu he started to use Mesa/Boogie. Who knows what he is using on the new album)

oooo!! do i get kudos for doing this shit or what =D!!!

yeah man! nice text and since I'm the founder of this group thank you for calling it the best on UG . And about the guitars: I like the Les Paul most and I guess I would like the SG (my favorite guitars but I don't know why he rather used the Les Paul live because the SG is very light...but maybe the headstock was too heavy - that sucks!). besides I watch out for cool Thrice fans and here's your KUDOS!!
oh and the tuning was E for the whole Identity Crisis album I think. In The Illusion of Safety and The Artist in the Ambulance it seems to be a random mix of Dopped-C and Dropped-C# tuning.

You're cool, dude! rock on!!
yeah man! nice text and since I'm the founder of this group thank you for calling it the best on UG . thanks man! and acsually interesting fact! the tuning was E for Idenity Crisis but the thing is..live it is tuned down to DropD# so he don't have to tune to dramatically during a ahow. for anyone who sees thrice live you will notice teppei does not switch his guitar alot during the show *maybe now because he is using baritone guitars on the fire album* but i guess we will have to look forward and see thanks man! and acsually interesting fact! the tuning was E for Idenity Crisis but the thing is..live it is tuned down to DropD# so he don't have to tune to dramatically during a ahow. for anyone who sees thrice live you will notice teppei does not switch his guitar alot during the show *maybe now because he is using baritone guitars on the fire album* but i guess we will have to look forward and see

The Nash '51 Broadcaster is my favorite, especially through his '59 Bassman RI.
The way he uses a single coil, vintage-y guitar for heavier stuff is excellent. Though the black Les Paul is close. It sounds amazing on Of Dust and Nations.
The Nash '51 Broadcaster is my favorite, especially through his '59 Bassman RI.
The way he uses a single coil, vintage-y guitar for heavier stuff is excellent. Though the black Les Paul is close.
