I think my band director has some mouthpeice which is apparently amazing for playing upper-register stuff. However, I think I actually rival him when it comes to volume.

(If nobody has noticed, I'm kinda the stereotypical egotistical jackass trumpet guy who always has to brag about range and volume).

Damn ego...

i can occasionally hit an E above the staff with my 14A4A. (made by Schilke) it's a perfect pep/marching band, and jazz mouthpiece. at least for me. i tried going back to my 7c and it was really weird.

I use a custom 7C (or is it a 10?) with a 3C rim. Yeah baby, rock the screw on rim. And I can hit an Eb above the staff, as long as we're showing off here.

I use a 3C. Last year my director switched me from a 7C, he said the 3C would fit my lips better. I also tried a 1C. I couldn't play shit with that. Now when I go back to 7C, I lose a bit of range.

Since everybody else is doing it, I figure I might as well tell you all. I can hit a B above the staff.

I can hit a high D above the staff with a 3C and and D with a 5C.

Just out of curiousity, what size mouth piece does everyone use?

shit.... i meant F with a 5C...

Sorry, fellow trumpet players! I have relinquished my role in the marching band as a trumpeter and have moved on to the position of Drum Major. Sad, too, because now the band is going to sound different (better, some might say) now that I won't be blasting every single note and playing an octave higher (and frakking like hell).

In other news: I'm going to be checking the page more often, just in case there happens to be activity here.

Added a yout ube video and changed the pic. If anybody has a better idea of what to use for the video or the pic give me a url and I'll check it out. Rafael Mendez is just f-ing amazing! And even though it's a cheap rental, I still appreciate my trumpet.

i think your doing a pretty good job. *secretly thinking, "promote me"*

It seems that our trumpet alliance is growing!

Um, if anybody could leave me some feedback on how good I'm moderating the group. I wouldn't mind promoting some people, I don't really know who to promote, and this isn't really the most active of groups out there.

Start a thread or something if you want. It doesn't necessarily need to be about band and trumpet and all that other stuff. Maybe you want to talk about hockey?

What about fluglehorn? I played one of them for a jazz band song. It was kinda a solo thing for it. That instrument kicks ass. All it is, is a mellow sounding trumpet.
