Sorry, fellow trumpet players! I have relinquished my role in the marching band as a trumpeter and have moved on to the position of Drum Major. Sad, too, because now the band is going to sound different (better, some might say) now that I won't be blasting every single note and playing an octave higher (and frakking like hell).

In other news: I'm going to be checking the page more often, just in case there happens to be activity here.

Added a yout ube video and changed the pic. If anybody has a better idea of what to use for the video or the pic give me a url and I'll check it out. Rafael Mendez is just f-ing amazing! And even though it's a cheap rental, I still appreciate my trumpet.

It seems that our trumpet alliance is growing!

Um, if anybody could leave me some feedback on how good I'm moderating the group. I wouldn't mind promoting some people, I don't really know who to promote, and this isn't really the most active of groups out there.

Start a thread or something if you want. It doesn't necessarily need to be about band and trumpet and all that other stuff. Maybe you want to talk about hockey?

What about fluglehorn? I played one of them for a jazz band song. It was kinda a solo thing for it. That instrument kicks ass. All it is, is a mellow sounding trumpet.

So... I got a solo trumpet part in Wind Ensemble. And in Symphonic Band I'm playing first on everything. And first in the SB means playing a lot of high notes for the next coming concert.

I think I was picked because I have a pretty solid high range. I think I've hit the Double-G on occasion, I'm not sure. I know it was definitely past the E, and was more than an F. Maybe Fsharp...

Had a trumpet solo today. I practiced for weeks on end to perfect it. It was for solo/ensemble. So I go to play it for the judge. I messed up. I feel like killing myself, it was embarrasing. I could, and should have, done better. Judge told me I should be using a different mouthpeice. I use a 7C, he suggested I switch to 3C. I had no idea that of all things my mouthpeice could be holding me back the most.

i have a besson 609, played for 6 years

i also play cornet, but cornet is teh sux0r.
