I always warm up by playing a C major from low c to high C, and the kid next to me always yells at me. And the french horn player yells at me for trying to play up high even though she messes up high notes all the time... quote |

And sometimes I raise things an octave, usually nothing over the B, just because I usually cannot hit anything above that unless I'm just playing scales. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that my highest right now is the E. I would like to be able to play the double-G some day, and I'm not too far right now.
I have a trumpet solo in one of my band classes. The song is Black Watch, and the solo is easy, except one measure, where I have to do all lip slurs in 8th notes from F to high-F, and my biggest weakness to me is lipslurs. I like to add a little vibrato sometimes, but a french horn player told me I use it too much, but I really don't care. It sounds like french horns are never in key. Maybe its because I've never seen a decent french horn player... quote |
